A Seinfeld Work of Art – Making Something From Nothing

One of the great things about the Net is how it enables talented individuals to share their gift with people throughout the world. And it doesn’t matter what their talent is or what the subject matter is about; if it’s good, you’ll undoubtedly find an audience if not through sheer word of mouth.
It’s for this reason I want to use my blog to showcase the artwork of a talented artist who painted an intriguing tribute to one of my all-time favourite comedies, “Seinfeld”. Artist Kiersten Essenpreis is the painter behind a fantastic collage painting called “Seinfeldology (99 Seinfeld References)” and as the title infers, it contains 99 different references to characters, story plots, and other details from the irreverent comedy series. Check it out -
What’s impressive about Essenpreis’ work is not only how it incorporates so many different ideas and elements from this comedy series, but the manner in which it captures the show’s very essence of famously being about nothing. Looking at this haphazardly compiled mountain of stuff, and the resigned if not indifferent manner in which the characters rest among it, one clearly gets the impression of the connection between these people – the focus of what defines their relationship – is nothing more than the unremarkable minutiae that populates our lives.
In addition to being a fun piece of “Seinfeld” trivia, it’s also a wonderful work of art in how it captures the spirit of the subject being portrayed. For those who’d like to know what all those 99 “Seinfeld” references are, here’s the chart created by the artist that reveals what’s behind that large pile of nothing.

I can’t believe how much of nothing I actually remembered! Serenity now!
It’s amazing isn’t it? I wasn’t sure if it was a good thing or not that I remembered so much as well. Then again, it is one of my favourite shows, so I guess it shouldn’t be too big a surprise.
Ah well, nice to know I have some company. Junior Mint?
